Description

A Dangerous Debt (987.M41) - Led by a conclave of Shadowseers, the Midnight Sorrow aid Inquisitor Sophia Vilimas in defeating the Alpha Legion on Safehaven. A massive daemonic incursion is prevented, yet in the battle's wake the seers inform Vilimas that she now owes them a debt -- one they will soon collect. The scheme involving the Kingdom of Falmuth resulted in Rimuru awakening as a True Demon Lord instead of Clayman. The Masque of the Twisted Path are some of the most sinister of all Harlequins, luring friends and foes into the Webway never to be seen again. They are also some of the most well-travelled of all Aeldari and have been seen fighting alongside humans, Tau and even Orks, though to what end remains a mystery, for those that question their motives invariably disappear soon after. The Twisted Path have a strange affinity with Craftworld Telennar and have often been seen performing there. Curiously, no one has ever disappeared from the Craftworld following a performance, though whether the inhabitants are cursed, blessed or simply not of interest to the Harlequins of the Twisted Path is unknown. Unsurprisingly, no one has stopped them to ask. Players in the Masque of the Twisted Path wear a bright ensemble made up of reds, oranges and purples. The Masque of the Twisted Path wear the Rune of Stolen Grace, symbolising the souls taken by the Laughing God from his enemies and fashioned into weapons for his followers.

Virtuoso: Once per battle, this operative can perform two Shoot actions with a shuriken pistol or two Fight actions during its activation. There is a huge amount of variety for both posing and choosing weapons options and all of the components in this kit are fully interchangeable with the other Harlequin plastic kits.

Faolchu's Blade (which sees a formation of Skyweavers and Voidweavers scream down upon the enemy to embody the Great Hawk's consort as she bore the sword of Anaris to Eldanesh's hand) Many Troupe Masters display their Troupe rune upon the coat's lapel or hem -- others prefer to use this space to better display the kaleidoscopic patterns of their masque, adhering instead to the Players' practice of bearing their Troupe rune upon the shoulder, thigh or knee. The masque rune is usually marked upon a sash, though this is by no means consistently so. Odyssey: Performance: making a Charge move that ends you up within Pentagon/6 inches of the opponent’s drop zone. Accolade: The Pivotal Role Player can add up Square/3 inches to its Charge move rather than the usual Circle/2 inches. Not difficult to achieve, and if you get to 4 Performance points, everyone suddenly has great mobility on Charge moves.

A scene from the commedia dell'arte played in France before a noble audience in 1571 or 1572 (Museum of Bayeux). Pantalone is front and center, while just to the right and slightly behind is Harlequin in motley costume, "the oldest known version of Harlequin's costume." [13] [14] This operative can move up to a distance equal to its Movement characteristic plus for Charge actions, instead of plus . Fusion Pistol - Fusion Pistols cause the molecules of the target to hyper-vibrate, generating so much heat that their targets burst into flames before suddenly liquefying, and then evaporating into nothingness. Though incredibly short-ranged, the sheer destructive potential of these weapons ensures that they see common usage amongst the masques of the Harlequins.

Of course, such a system is not perfect, for the Webway has become a broken and dangerous realm. The manifestation of the Great Rift at the start of the Era Indomitus tore at the Webway, ripping away spars already weakened by the passage of millennia and unravelling others, laying them open to the Warp.

We’ve seen how Harlequin Detachments can join an Aeldari (or Drukhari ) army. But what kind of weapons are these jesters bringing? Let’s just say that they’re funny, but not ha-ha funny. Even compared to other Eldar, Harlequins are graceful and lithe; they augment this natural prowess with so-called 'flip-belts' that generate a small anti-gravitic field around them and allow them to leap unnaturally high. [1a] They also wear holo-suits; sophisticated substitutes for armour that also aid theatrical performance. When set to battle-conditions, whenever the Harlequin moves, their image is shattered into a cloud of crystal shards that dance and swirl around with vigour proportional to the speed the Harlequin is moving. [1e] The webway once spanned the galaxy, even stretching out into the empty void beyond. Those days are long gone. Ravaged by war and catastrophe, many of its tunnels have been torn open or amputated entirely, and a great number of its entrances have been sealed by the Aeldari themselves as a desperate measure to deny their foes access. Clayman was created with the intended purpose to see if Majin capable of awakening into True Demon Lords could be artificially produced. He was Kagali's most trusted subordinate and she even inducted him into the Demon Lord Council. He was specifically engineered to be a cunning mastermind and a tactical commander, similar to herself.A masque possesses a synergy unmatched in almost any other fighting formation, an instinctive bond grown between the Harlequins as they travel and perform together and unleashed on the battlefield in times of war and strife. In others, the ritual significance of the foe, the battlefield, or even such factors as time of day or quality of light will inform this decision. Whatever the choice, each saedath is an intricate and brilliantly conceived strategy. Since the Fall, a place has traditionally been reserved in a masque's structure should a Solitaire lend their considerable abilities to a cause, but they are otherwise unchanged, centred around three distinct Troupes: the Light, the Dark, and the Twilight. Each contains a different cast of characters, grouped by outlook and symbolism.

Visual Inspiration

The Curtain Rises (999.M41) - The galaxy burns, the fires of war lighting a bloody stage. The veil thins: a curtain soon to be ripped aside. According to the Laughing God's will, the Harlequins take their places to act out their last, greatest performance -- or die in the attempt. Cegorach's Summons (ca. M32) - In the wake of the Fall, the surviving worshippers of the Laughing God disappear into the Webway without a word of explanation. Swift beyond belief and impossibly agile, Harlequins flow through battle like silk streamers in a hurricane. As they close with the foe, the Players are in constant motion, a riot of prismatic colour that dazzles the senses. The oncoming Harlequins sprint, leap and weave, the blades and blasts of their terrified enemy whistling around them to little effect. Heroes Path (which sees a Death Jester and Shadowseer play the roles of Ulthanash and Eldanesh and a Solitaire embodying their pride)
