With a finger and in the middle make an indent or hole about a half a centimeter or 2/8 of an inch deep If you are a beginner or experienced gardener who wants to propagate plants through cuttings, then rapid rooter plugs can be an excellent option for you. Rapid rooter plugs are easy to use and can help you achieve a high success rate in propagating your plants. If your growing medium takes longer than 3 days for the top inch to dry, it means the soil is staying wet too long, and plant roots aren’t getting enough oxygen. It also puts your plants at risk of getting fungus gnats . Try giving less water at a time until the plant is drinking more. It’s possible you may have a problem with drainage in your medium ( what is good soil? ) or there are no drainage holes so extra water can’t come out the bottom of the container. Always remove any runoff water instead of letting the plant sit in it. When it comes to new growers, it seems like the most fool-proof method (at least for me, and many of the new growers who write in) is the Paper Towel Method! It’s so simple, but there’s something about wet paper towels that a young seedling loves 🙂 Learn About Other Ways to Germinate Seeds. When your plant has its second set of true leaves, they are ready to be transplanted. Another way you can know it is ready is if you see strong root systems forming around the rapid rooter plug.

Step 3: Let the rooters sit in that container for at least an hour. It is advisable to leave them there for 12-24 hours. Then, remove the solution from the grow plugs. Moisture Masters: They’re like little sponges, holding onto moisture, so your plants won’t get thirsty. No Mess, No Stress: No soil mess to deal with, and no worries about bugs or diseases that can come with dirt. If the growing medium feels dry within 1 day, give more water next time. Otherwise, give the same amount again next time you water If you learn how to use rapid rooter plugs, you will have a high amount of success with seeds. It is very easy to use.Store your rooters properly when not in use. Essentially, rapid rooters are inert when made; however, since they’re a grow medium, organic materials like mold or mildew can develop once they have got inside the plugs. Repeat, until you can give enough water to get at least a little runoff, and have it dry in a few days These mixes are typically made from a combination of materials such as coconut coir, perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss and can provide a sterile and well-draining growing medium for your plants. FAQ Is it necessary to soak Rapid Rooters before use? Are they the same? Kind of similarities they have like they are growing media for hydroponic plant culture systems. Both are the same but users choose them according to their level of experience.

Rapid Rooter Plugs are made from organic materials and do not contain any synthetic additives or chemicals. However, they are not certified organic. Are Rapid Rooter Cubes the same as Rapid Rooter Plugs? There’s good reason to believe that hydro plants would grow better with a cool reservoir. For example, the bad microorganisms that make root rot don’t survive well at lower temperatures. Additionally, water can physically hold more oxygen at lower temperatures, which seems like it would be great for faster plant growth. Because of this, lots of growers will AC their room to 60°F, and/or get a water chiller to cool their water reservoir to a similar temperature. Overall, Rapid Rooter Plugs are a versatile and effective growing medium that can be used for a variety of propagation and growing methods, including hydroponics. Does Rapid Rooters Have Nutrients? Water your seeding in the Rapid Rooters until you see a root coming out the bottom. Keep Rapid Rooters moist but not wet. During this time, give seedlings bright filtered light. A CFL or LED light bulb kept several inches away works well. I’ve left mine on the kitchen table next to a sunny window, and that’s also worked fine for me as long as it doesn’t get too hot.Scientific Insight: Some growers add hydrogen peroxide to increase dissolved oxygen and reduce bacteria. However, this can strip beneficial bacteria. An alternative is soaking seeds in microbial solutions for a short period, ensuring they don’t break down the seeds. Read more on soil aeration and germination Install Rapid Rooter and water the seedlings until roots reach the water reservoir – Turn on light to keep seedlings warm for best results! Jiffy Pellets(Peat Pellets) or Coco Coir Pellets. The pellets are filled with either peat or coco coir(coconut husks). And surround by a thin air flowing fabric. A common problem many gardeners encounter is no seed germination. This issue often occurs because of overwatering but little did you know how you drain the plugs after soaking also influences this.

Cover the tray with a humidity dome to execute the exact moisture for the seeds. But if the humidity dome is not available to you, switch it to saran wrap. Because saran wrap is the best alternative to hold the moisture to the seeds in the rapid rooter tray. Some growers like to put seedlings in solo cups and then into their final container. When done right this can increase the rate of growth by providing more oxygen to the plant’s roots. If you go that route, I recommend paper cups as they’re not as bad for the environment. Too wet – new seedlings don’t like “wet feet” so make sure your Rapid Rooter or growing medium never looks shiny or muddy, as that means there’s too much water! For this reason, it’s also usually recommended to avoid using a humidity dome with seedlings unless your air is dry. Although clones love humidity domes (they need water from the air because they don’t have any roots to get water), seedlings like it a little drier or roots tend to get mushy.Hydroguard– This supplement contains a specific bacteria that was first found in rice paddies in Japan in the 40s! It’s been common in Asia for years but only in the last several years has it been available in the US from a company called Botanicare. I highly recommend, even insist, that all hydro growers get this cheap-but-effective supplement to keep plant roots healthy! Don’t touch the shell if possible because a tiny tug in the wrong direction can pull the seedling out of the plug and break off the taproot. After the pre-soaking, the starter plugs will hold a sufficient amount of water for the rapid propagation of roots. Add water to the plugs only when there is evidence of complete drying out.
