The digital radio provides an extensive choice of stations with many more than traditional analogue and all in crystal clear sound quality. This was something very new that I was very keen to see and experience for myself, and I was impressed. Bought the Hepburn because I wanted a radio that I could take out into the garden with me but also use in the house when the weather is rubbish. It has some very useful functions such as dual alarms so you can wake up to a radio station or a buzzer.

I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now and I love that both my girls are old enough to join in. When I opened mine for repair I found two full-range 8-watt 4 Ω speaker drivers with ultra-wide shallow-angled cones. Offering a step up from the smaller Retro Mini, the VQ Hepburn II is another outstanding offering from one of the UK’s most popular DAB radio manufacturers. The VQ Mk II even goes above and beyond the functionality of some of the other DAB radio options on the market today by giving users the option to tailor the sound to their needs. When it’s time to listen to your own music you can connect simply and wirelessly via Bluetooth or use the traditional 3. Hepburn MKII features ultra-wide speaker drivers for a full rich audio experience, especially when combined with digital sound processing technology.

With the custom developed VQ Control App on iOS or Android you can control everything from the palm of your hand. I usually hate technical stuff and leave it to Ben to set up, (then moan forever more that I have no idea how to use anything as it’s far too complicated), but this radio is the easiest thing to use ever. That means you can quickly hook up your smartphone or tablet hassle-free, and enjoy all your favourite audio content.Hepburn Mk II is a DAB / DAB Digital and FM Radio with Bluetooth which effortlessly combines stylish vintage good looks and modern functionality. The Hepburn was originally designed to balance stunning retro looks with portability and modern capabilities. Replacement for an expensive old Roberts radio that was good at the time of purchase but struggled to get decent reception anymore. A song that you love will come on the radio, or it will spark a happy memory and you find yourself smiling and taking yourself back for a split moment.

I’ll warn you now, this is going to be one of those gushing reviews because it is really so awesome. Sound is entirely personal and subjective so this comprehensive equaliser means you can tailor the radio to your own tastes or for different music genres. I have a list of my favourite songs on my iPhone Apple music and the only way before to listen ,was via headphones.

The upgraded sound quality from the dual ultra-wide stereo speakers means that just because you’re paying less for this device than you would for something like the Pure Pop Maxi, doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on sound. Not only can the VQ Hepburn II tune in to DAB and FM radio, but it also supports a wide range of connectivity options. That time of the day where we are all getting tired from a long day and I’m trying to cook the dinner, it can be a bit fraught at times. I was always a huge fan of vintage style radio’s but most I’ve seen before, were in typical brown or black leather or plastic.

The VQ Hepburn Mk II, builds on the multi-award winning success of the original radio maintaining the designer aesthetics but with some exciting acoustic and functionality upgrades. That’s plenty of listening time for even long trips, and also makes the Hepburn ideal for the garden during the summer. In fact, he was the first to whip it out of the box, set it up and play his iPhone music whilst remarking immediately on how great it is. The addition of a dual digital radio alarm clock built into the VQ Hepburn Mk II makes this an excellent radio to have on your bedside table.To adhere with the demands of the modern consumer, there’s also Bluetooth streaming included in the DAB Mk II, and enhanced cable connections too. Within around ten seconds of turning the radio on I had connected my Bluetooth and was listening to my playlist admiring the sound quality. If it is time to listen to some of your own music, you’ll be glad to know Hepburn Mk II also features a Bluetooth connection. Don’t let all the buttons complicate things, they are what they say they are and it’s all very straight forward.
