The new trimmer on the 94M does seem to be a tad better with longer hairs, but it would be really difficult to quantify the benefits; both the Pro S9 and the standard one seem to me just as capable with longer stubble. In May 2017 I bought a 9290cc, I really liked it, it gave a comfortable and close wet shave. I eventually gave up on it in May this year after having had to return it for repair three times which resulted in the replacement of the complete shaver unit twice. So when what was my third razor ceased to function in May this year two days before going on an extended holiday and with no time to get it repaired for the fourth time I gave up and bought a Panasonic ES-RF31.

The takeaway is that the new Series 9 93xx shavers use the same shaving head/cassette as the outgoing model ( 92s and 92b). Keep in mind that Panasonic shavers will only work best on shorter facial hair, so the Arc 5 would make sense only if you plan on shaving often.The Series 9 Pro shaver seems a bit more powerful and you can’t get that just by using the 94M cassette.

the 9250cc is the only model in the newer generations that is suitable for dry-only use and will actually work while charging. It’s a simple and proven setup that works better than anything other brands have tried. Wet shaving The 93xx, 94xx PRO and 95xx PRO+ models come with a slightly larger battery that can hold enough charge for up to 60 minutes of use.The type 5790 (dry only) Series 9 shavers have been phased out and replaced by the newer wet/dry models. They come with an updated shaving head (cassette) and all the models are suitable for wet & dry use.

I do not know if this way of showing the shaving head status has changed over time, and if there are different version of the 9385, but maybe you have more knowledge about that? However, if you’re into wet shaving and you don’t mind some prep work and cleaning afterward, you can safely use the 9385cc (or any of the current Series 9) with shaving cream. The closeness is very good overall and while not quite to the level of something like a Panasonic Arc 5 (that comes with its own shortcomings), it’s clearly good enough.
