Description

This collection was absolutely perfect. It was such a joy to flip the coin and read about The World’s Worst Teachers instead of the World’s Worst Children, and in my opinion the Teachers are so much worse than the Children.

The Beast of Buckingham Palace: The epic new children’s book

Leading the charge this winter is a mammoth of an adventure called The Ice Monster. It’s a must read for people who love Walliams other children’s books like The Midnight Gang and Gangsta Granny… So it’s a must read for everyone!

Irreverant and charming, this is a hilarious and surprisingly touching story about secrets, love and life.

Slime: The mega laugh-out-loud children’s book from No. 1

Zzz! Swoesj! Kadwaa! Boing!). Verskeie woordspelings het my laat glimlag (Kinders as kunstenaars = KAK) en ‘n situasie in ‘n oorvol detensieklas (‘Hou op in my neus krap! Ek’s vreeslik jammer; ek dog dis myne!’) het my kliphard laat skater. Great for children, just not for (most) adults. I like some more magical stories with more meaning behing it.

I read this book with my 7-year-old daughter and I can't say that I enjoyed it much. Walliams appears to have created similar characters in certain stories, just giving them different subjects that they teach; like the Art Teacher, Miss Conceit, and the Drama Teacher, Miss Palaver , who both teach their classes based around themselves. The elephant does everything a human guest would do - have a nap, have some food, have a bath, do some exercise, but as a very large elephant, it doesn’t go all that well. Ending up with him inviting a whole herd of elephants over to Sams house. A rude, witty and irreverent illustrated story in which an orphaned girl tries to escape from her murderous auntie and solve the mystery of her parents’ death. It's just a bit scary and fantastic fun. Well it’s another World’s Worst books by David Walliams and this time he’s turned the microscope on you Teachers – you all thought you had it safe didn’t you, got away with ruining children’s lives, forever tormenting them, giving them homework, having coffee breath and making them do exercise in the rain or in their pants. Well Walliams explores the worst of the worst with The World’s Worst Teachers – and in doing so makes many parents take a trip down memory lane, as when they read, they can’t help but mention the teachers they had – causing interesting after reading discussions.

Did you meet David Walliams and Tony Ross?

The stories are a similar structure to WWC, often with moral lessons and comeuppances to those who need them, and lots of chances for readers to loathe and laugh at some over-the-top stereotypes and situations. I enjoyed reading ‘The Slightly Annoying Elephant’ and I really love the fun, lively illustrations by Tony Ross. The story is simple and easy to follow with lots of exaggerated text and pictures which children will love. I really loved this book it was inventive and creative. It had unique and new ideas and it was extremely funny also. Original images created by Sir Quentin and Michael Foreman for Roald Dahl’s classic stories are also among more than 100 illustrations from Walliams’s personal collection, which are now being offered for sale by the Chris Beetles Gallery in St James’s, London.

Millions of young readers have loved the World’s Worst Children tales – now they will revel in this delightfully dreadful collection of the most gruesome grown-ups ever: The World’s Worst Teachers. From the phenomenally bestselling David Walliams and illustrated in glorious colour by the artistic genius, Tony Ross. It makes me feel a little bit scared because a boy called Alfie gets all of his teeth pulled out by a dentist called miss root who is the demon dentist.
